Thirty-Five

By LINDSAY FRICKS

Tomorrow is my 35th birthday…. My birthdays have always been a big deal. I love life and I really enjoy celebrating another trip around the sun. This week I am sharing my top five highlights from the past year.

5.  When I got my Real Estate license in 2017 I had initially intended to use it to help offset the commission expenses from buying my own investment properties. However, over the course of the classes I quickly realized that I had a really strong desire to pursue real estate as a career. I already had a very time-consuming career, but I worked in real estate when I could and I was ecstatic when I got my first solo listing in 2018. Less than 48 hours on the market before the home was under contract and sailing towards an on-time close. You could say this gave me the bug to take a leap of faith and pursue real estate 100% starting in January.

4. One of my top life passions is traveling. In the last year I’ve been to NYC, Seattle, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Dallas, Temecula, Banff, Uganda, Kenya, Park City, Boston, Santa Monica, Naples, LA, Hawaii and Austin. Here are some of my favorite travel shots from the year.

3. Since Jason and I planned to elope we knew we wanted to host a special party afterward to celebrate with our loved ones. Our “Lets Get Wild” party was definitely just that. All the most important people poured into Scottsdale for a weekend of festivities and merriment. We are humbled at the love and support we’ve had throughout our relationship. I’m biased, but we definitely have the best friends and family.

2. Before we even got engaged, Jason and I dreamed of the type of event we would want to mark the occasion. We were in the midst of planning an African safari trip to check off the top spot on my bucket list when I came across a magical blog with stunning photos from a Kenyan elopement. I emailed a link to Jason and he was easily convinced that Africa would be the perfect place. Thanks to the help of our trip planners at Safari Experts, our hosts at Ol Malo, our amazing photographer Mia Collis and the Samburu tribe, we had the most unbelievable two-night marriage blessing in the mountains of Northern Kenya.

1. Our backyard marriage ceremony easily takes the cake on the best memory of my 35th year. Truthfully, I didn’t even want this ceremony, but Jason insisted that we legally get married before our trip to Africa. On the Tuesday night before we left we had a pastor we found on the internet, my mom and step-dad, our photographer and of our three dogs to witness our intimate ceremony.  We shared the vows we’d written ourselves, some tears, laughs and champagne. Jason’s vows absolutely blew me away and still to this day I’m amazed at how much this man loves me and how blessed I am to call him my husband.

Thirty-four was definitely a year for the record books… 35 I’m coming for you!
