AZ "Must Attend" Winter Events

By LINDSAY FRICKS

Winter is Coming….

Fall is starting to set in and we have 6+ months of gorgeous weather ahead! Hallelujah! The cooler months in Arizona are packed full of fun outdoor events and festivals. This week I’m sharing my favorite must attend local events for the Arizona winter season.

First Fridays- 1st Friday every month

Downtown Phoenix and specifically Roosevelt Row is home to our growing local art scene. On the first Friday of every month you can experience local art exhibitions and food along a free trolley route. This is fun in combination with a light rail bar crawl in Central Phoenix.

AZCentral Wine and Food Experience- November 2nd-3rd

Calling all foodies! This event has been growing each year and hosts all the local and even  some internationally renowned chefs. Tickets are on the pricey side, but worth it if you’re into the food and wine scene.

Christmas at The Princess

Christmas at the Princess- December

Ice Skating in the Desert…say what? The Fairmont Princess hotel in North Scottsdale has something for everyone during the holidays. With an on-site Build-a-Bear, S’more Station and even a train ride to see all the lights, it’s a holiday tradition for many!

Strong Beer Festival- February 8

This is the signature event of Arizona Beer Week. We’ve been attending this festival for many years and it’s always a good time outdoors with friends.

Waste Management Open- January 22- February 2

Truthfully, I hadn’t ever been to this until 2019…. It’s one of the most well known Scottsdale events, but I’m not really into golf. It certainly lives up to the nickname of The Greatest Show on Grass. I highly recommend finding someone who will host you in their suite during the days. In the evenings the Birds Nest has concerts from some of the most popular artists.

Renaissance Festival- February 8-March 29

I’ve been attending the Renaissance Festival for almost a decade. It’s quite the hike out to the East Valley, but it’s worth it. You can spend an entire day in the massive Ren Fest compound enjoying turkey legs, cider and some amazing shows. This is hands down the BEST people watching of any event.  I’d like to organize a group transport for this year so stay tuned.

Spring Training- February 22- March 24

Another well known Arizona event is MLB Spring Training. This is probably my favorite time of year in Arizona and it’s not to be missed. Enough said…. Go Cubs!

Scottsdale Culinary Festival- April 13

I love food and this is another great event for foodies. This event is hosted right in Old Town and has a ton of local eateries and pop-up drink tents.

Who is going with me? Mark you calendars and give me a shout if you want to join me!

What are your favorite events in the Arizona winter? I’m always looking for recommendations for fun new events and festivals to attend.
