Lindsay's List: Best Places for Lunch in Phoenix

By LINDSAY FRICKS

In December, our team decided to set out on trying a new restaurant for lunch every Friday. We work remotely so this would be our one face-to-face connection during the week and support local businesses still recovering from COVID… Win-Win. There hasn’t been a single place we didn’t like, but we wanted to share a ranking of the best lunch restaurants we tried in the Phoenix area:

Lil Miss BBQ, Central Phoenix:  This iconic North Central restaurant has been suggested to me numerous times. It was amazing- the staff, the meats, the sauces, picnic tables… This was our most memorable lunch to date.

Worth Takeaway, Mesa: Mesa isn’t normally in my zone, but we took a trip out to try this hot spot. They’re also known for their fried chicken sandwich. Honestly it was hard to compare this with the next spot on this list, but this one ranks higher because the staff was above and beyond nice and they carry my favorite chocolate bars from local chocolatier Noi Cacao.

Monroe’s Hot Chicken, Tempe: I’m somewhat of a fried chicken connoisseur. If there’s a chicken sandwich on the menu I am going to order it. Monroe’s sandwich fries and craft sodas do not disappoint. Great pit stop for a quick lunch.

Casa Corazon, Central Phoenix- This cute lil’ house is packed with some delicious Mexican eats. They also have a salsa bar which is a quick way to my heart with ALL the sauces. I rarely drink at lunch but ordered up a margarita which was also quite delicious and not too sweet.

Bread & Honey House– Central Phoenix- This tiny gem has some of the yummiest Chilaquiles I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot. There’s only a couple tables outside so this spot is mainly for takeaway, but worth it. You order through a little walk up window on the side of the building.

Fame Caffe, Central Phoenix: I’d heard so much about this popular restaurant and was very excited to try it out. I got their famous breakfast wrap and it didn’t disappoint.

Doughbird, Arcadia: Located right by my house, I have been here many times, but Savannah had not. They have one of my favorite pizzas ever, The Aviator, and I could take a bath in their ranch dressing.

Just Tacos, Arcadia Lite: The food at this new fast casual restaurant is amazing. The unassuming location doesn’t look like much, but the food definitely delivers. I had the masa quesadilla which is one of the most unique quesadillas I’ve ever had and I find myself craving it on occasion.

Pemberton, Downtown: We were very excited to go here, but I think we were a little early on in their opening and they didn’t have many options open. The concept here is like a collective of permanent food trucks. The only one open was the pizza concept which was really great, but we just didn’t get the full experience so we will go back soon for a better look.

Dog Haus, Scottsdale Quarter: I love hot dogs, but mainly a traditional Chicago dog is my jam. These gourmet hot dogs are over the top delicious, but we didn’t have the greatest experience here which is why it ranks last on our list.
