Lindsay's Local Leader: Mendy Hoffman, Owner of Velocity Stylebar

By LINDSAY FRICKS

It’s my pleasure to introduce you to my friend and local business owner, Mendy Hoffman, of Velocity Stylebar. We were introduced by a former Local Leader Spotlight, Courtney Crowder, who is a loyal client at Mendy’s salon. Mendy is exceptionally community minded and is always looking for ways to support other local entrepreneurs. She is one of the most tenderhearted woman I know and when she’s not focusing on growing her business she selflessly spends her time supporting women and veterans in need. I hope you enjoy learning more about Mendy, her passions and how we can support her business in this month’s spotlight.

Lindsay Fricks Real Estate Arizona

Where are you from and what brought you to Arizona? I am originally from Idaho. I moved to Arizona in 2011. I wanted to move to a warmer climate and had visited Arizona in the past. I fell in love with the desert and the warmer weather.

What’s your hidden talent or random unknown fact about you? I worked at the Men’s prison in Idaho and kickboxed in my 20s.

What are 3 items you can’t live without? Sleep (as I don’t get much), pets, me-time and my family.

Where would your dream house be and what are some must have features? I live in my dream house- simple with outdoor privacy and views. My ultimate would be a beach house overlooking the ocean with an outdoor tub, pool and rooftop deck.

What’s your superpower? My intuition.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? Lean into the uncomfortable.

What community organization are you passionate about and why?  Streetlight USA- I was a troubled teen and can relate to some of the heartache-nobody boys, girls…..should ever be treated with ownership or inhumane. I also support USVets Phx as my son is in Army Airborne and I believe the Veterans are the true heroes.

What’s your business?  I am the owner of Velocity Stylebar, a local blow dry bar/style bar in Arcadia.

What makes you and your business different?  I started with the concept and vision of Community and it has progressed from there and stayed. Velocity stylebar, a place where you can relax, be spoiled, and let your hair down.  Paradise Valley resident owned and operated and located in Arcadia/Phoenix on the corner of 44th street and Indian School Road. We are a Blow Dry Bar with hairstylists that provide blowouts, braids, event styling, makeup, facials and waxing.
