Manifesting

Four tips to make sure you don’t end up in the cycle of feast or famine

By LINDSAY FRICKS

I’m a lifelong learner…in fact, part of what I enjoy most about real estate is that there are endless opportunities to absorb knowledge through each new person I meet and each house I sell. No two of either are the same. I have put a BIG emphasis on learning self development this year and I’ve shared bits and pieces of that here on my blog. This week I want to share some tips from the latest workshop I took about Manifesting for Business by a colleague of mine, Kris Mclaughlin, aka The Mindful Agent.

Manifesting seems to be the new pop culture version of spirituality. I admit, it seems a bit woo woo, but can it actually work? Manifesting is just a different name for this process I’ve shared before about writing my positive affirmations daily. I can confidently say this process works…like really works! This month I will surpass my annual volume goal for 2019 and I truly feel like I owe this to writing down my affirmations or manifestations daily and channeling that energy towards action.

The big “AHA” moment I wanted to highlight from Kris’ session on manifesting is the cycle of consistency. We’ve all set a new goal, gotten super excited, started working feverishly towards that goal, seen results, then become super busy/overwhelmed and forget to keep doing what got us the results in the first place. A great analogy for this is losing weight. You’re very focused and strict at first, but once 10lbs are gone you think maybe I can have just one donut and before you know it you’re back to square one. In your career, this leads to the large peaks and valleys in your business and, for those in non-salary jobs, income.

Manifesting

Breaking this cycle is tough. It means when you’re super busy and overwhelmed because ALL THE BUSINESS you wished for is coming your way, you still have to continue the activities that got you there in the first place. It’s not enough to occasionally revisit your affirmations or manifestations…you must find time DAILY to reinforce them.

Here are four tips to make sure you don’t end up in the cycle of feast or famine:

  1. Create a ritual first thing in the morning before anything else gets in the way.
    • My routine is coffee, feet on the ground, read or write manifests/affirmations and write notes of gratitude. Nothing starts before this and generally there’s nothing more urgent or pressing at 5am.
  2. Incorporate manifestations/affirmations into an existing routine.
    • Think about your goals while you’re brushing your teeth morning and night or while you’re in the shower. Add it on to something you currently do that’s a pretty mindless activity so it doesn’t actually add any time to your day.
  3. Write high visibility notes to yourself.
    • Write your affirmations on the mirror, whiteboard, post-its…wherever you’ll see daily to reinforce what you’re manifesting. Mine are on my large white board so every time I look up from my desk I see them. I also have them printed out and in the very front of my notebook before my trackers and to do lists.
  4. Ask yourself, “does this action/activity support my goal” before committing time to activities.
    • This is something I am just adding into my mindset per Kris’ recommendation. Making sure I’m intentionally spending my time on activities that support my goals will ensure I achieve them.

This process has transformed my mindset and my life for the better over the last eight months. If you’re not doing this, there’s no better time to start than right now and I’m here to help. Are you interested in discussing how you can incorporate manifestation into your life? This is one of my favorite topics so let’s go grab some coffee and chat about how this can work for you!
