Let's Talk...

Philanthropy

For as long as I can remember my family has set the example that part of living in a community is service. Throughout my childhood and young adult life, I spent time giving back through community organizations like the

Humane Society, National Abilities Center and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Today, the two causes I feel most passionate about is helping women in need and animal welfare.

The

Organizations

As a very proud fur mom, I’m very involved with an organization called The Arizona Pet Project. This organization aims to avoid pet homelessness by helping owners get the necessary resources and support they need to aid in pet ownership. I have volunteered at several of our free community spay and neuter clinics and am on the planning committee for our largest annual fundraiser called The Hero’s Ball.  In late 2019, I was honored to be invited to join their Board of Directors.

I am grateful that throughout my life I have had the support and resources needed to pave the way for a successful career and life. However, I know other women weren’t afforded the same privileges. As an Auxiliary Board Member for Fresh Start Women’s Foundation, I play an integral role in fundraising over $300,000 that funds education, resources and support to women in our community.

The Arizona Pet Project

Animal Rescue

Arizona Pet Project was born out of the need to end pet homelessness. Often owners find themselves in challenging times and don’t have the resources, time or money to care for their pets. These owners who have fallen on hard times think that if they surrender their pets to the shelter they’ll get the necessary care they’re unable to provide. That’s where Arizona Pet Project steps in. We have two full time licensed social workers who will connect families with the support they need to keep animals in their homes. Often times this is vital veterinary care, temporary boarding during a move or even lease deposits.

The best way to support Arizona Pet Project is by attending one of our annual fundraisers. Not only are these fun social events with an excuse to dress up, but these are the lifeblood of our organization. The SNIFF event is held each fall in November. Our largest fundraiser, the Hero Awards, is held in March.

Fresh Start Women’s Foundation

Fresh Start

Fresh Start Women’s Foundation was started in 1992 with a mission to provide resources, education and support to women in need. Many of the women served by Fresh Start are emerging from crisis situations such as domestic violence and incarceration. These women have no other place to turn to get back on their feet. Fresh Start provides a variety of vital resources to help women reach their full potential and develop financial self-sufficiency. Through mentorship and workshop style classes, Fresh Start teaches women life-skills, career development and self-confidence it takes to succeed.

The best way to get involved with Fresh Start is by participating in one of the three annual fundraisers. As an Auxiliary Board member, I help plan the Wine, Women and Shoes luncheon fundraiser which takes place in late September each year. This super fun day is filled with flowing wine, fashion and shopping. The Men’s Board hosts an exciting golf tournament each year in November.
