Paint or restain your front door: This goes such a long way for curb appeal. A coat of paint and supplies is less than $20 at Home Depot and the whole project can be completed in just a few hours. Try adding a pop of color like a blue, red or yellow to add some personal flare. I’ve also seen some greens and oranges that add some fun personality to your home. 

Update your house numbers: I have to admit, I love some really cute and modern house numbers. I’m also a big fan of oversized numbers or when people incorporate them in unexpected places on their house such as on the actual front door, on the post or pony wall in front of their home. 

Add open shelving: Open shelving has gotten so popular that I’m hearing some clients ask for it on their home wish list. You can buy floating shelves from Wayfair or Overstock. For an even more budget-friendly option you can buy some brackets and have the wood cut to size at Home Depot. Easy peasy!

Add/organize storage: Adding cabinetry in the garage or customizing a closet can be quite expensive, but just getting organized in general can actually add to your home value when you go to sell it. People love to clean and organize spaces and have a clear vision on how to maximize space. Adding some functional open shoe shelves to a closet or even just adding some bins to your pantry can go a long way!

Freshen up your baseboards: The dreaded baseboards. This has been on our list for years. Baseboards take a beating and need to be maintained regularly to keep a nice appearance. Baseboards are also super cheap and a great way to upgrade your home. Bigger is better right now. I often see people replacing standard 2 inch baseboards with more modern 6 to 8 inch baseboards. This is a bit more time consuming but goes a very long way. 

Add shiplap or wallpaper: Accent walls tend to evolve over time, but are always a fun idea if done tastefully. The invention of removable wall paper is a game changer. You can transform any area to suit your taste without doing long term damage. I’m personally over shiplap, but it seems that trend is here to stay for a while so if that’s your jam, now might be a good time to add it. 

Replace your light switches: I don’t know why, but I feel like lightswitches are so gross and cringe when I tour houses that have built up dirt and gunk on them. You can get brand new wall plates and switches for less than $5 bucks.
